Hi all i just registered here. I played kmod on 1.51 and i like it,so when i read on the home page that there was a 1.6 compatible update for the mod i downloaded the update and patched coh after uninstalling kmod, although i updated coh to 1.7 since the update had just come out. I installed kmod, then the hotfix, but then i ran the game and there was some funny problems. First off, i noticed the grenade icon missing from the german pioneers (not a blank spot,but just no ability). Then i noticed there was only pioneers to select in the headquarters building and the skirmish upgrade and the pioneers were double-priced but had 4 members,and when i built the wehrmacht and then tried later the kreig barracks, they had the default units and no kmod ones :eek:. (the kreig barracks, for example,had grenadiers and 2 others as one was missing as a blank spot im not sure which i dont remember although the wehrmacht quarters has bikes volks and snipers but no mg, and the 2 buildings wouldnt rotate. Im guessing theres other problems but right now i havent tried any other buildings or building anything except the volksgrenadiers and pioneers). I thought it was from the 1.7 patch so i uninstalled coh, and reinstalled. I used the patch exes from the documents folder where the coh profile is (also where the screenshots,single player files, etc are) after copying the 1.6 and 1.61 patches into a seperate folder (i did this b4 i uninstalled the game after i updated to 1.7) where i had put the patches up to 1.51 from the first time i installed coh (i once used the exes to update to 1.51 without going to 1.6 after uninstalling coh and reinstalling when i screwed up the relic.english file by using a backup that was 2 or 3 versions old and i couldnt find a new one and i wanted to be able to patch the game,and after i used the patches there kmod worked fine). But i reinstalled kmod and had the same problem. Then i realized after i uninstalled again it wasnt deleting the coh folder or the profile and i manually deleted both and hoped it would work. But after i reinstalled the game after uninstalling it completely, deleting the coh directory, the profile folder in the documents and settings, and making sure nothing was left of either, it still has the problem. It says it is 1.61, i dont see anyone complaining of this problem, and honestly i have no idea where its coming from except that its like a problem i had when they patched the game once b4 and a mod i had was like this (missing units default units etc). I once tried the mod without the 1.6 fix and got the crash people complained about with the entity factory error in the warning log. I really like kmod,but im getting sick of reinstalling and uninstalling coh cause it takes what seems like 15 minutes both ways then another 5 or 10 to patch it, so does anyone have an idea whats up?

Edit (I typed this while i was making the post since im getting sick of writing this.I seem to have a bad habit of long explanatory posts/etc and im getting impatient which is probably the reason i havent really tried experimenting with whats wrong exactly with kmod with this problem. If anything doesnt make sense its probably because i typed too much and i am just too impatient to read every detail over and over after the 10th time or whatever ive done changes that involve half the post being rewritten.)

the patches i mention i copied from C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\Patch

Edit # 2 Did some more looking the pioneers for example are 4 but they have mp40s but the sounds are kmod. Another funny thing is the mg42 isnt in the wehrmacht quarters menu but the ai make them. Also seems the halftrack is missing from the sturm armory which is probably whats missing from the kreig barracks. Volks are 5 like in default and have default weapons and upgrades. Also seems the weapon ranges may be what they should be in kmod but the view distances arent (a guess).

Does anyone else have this problem with either 1.7 or 1.6/1.61? I seem to have it with 1.61 (i think 1.6 would be screwy too because 1.61 doesnt change anything really) although im not sure why.

Edit 1.51 with kmod without the hotfix seems to work fine with the way i install the other patches (just didnt install 1.6 or 1.61).

THIS IS WHAT TO DO:

1. Uninstall EVERYTHING (COH, Kmod and delete the remaining files)

2. Install COH

3. Download These patches, (Takes some time)

Hot Fix - DOWNLOAD HERE (http://kmod.org/KMOD/kmod_builds/KMOD_NaW_1.39f_HOTFIX_Installer.exe)
And Install

5. Now it should work....

This seems to work at least for me. For anyone who has this problem i did the following and it seems to work:

1.Ran the kmod uninstall exe (or basically delete the kmod folder, files there and the kmod.english/german file in the engine folder somewhere

2.Uninstalled coh with the uninstall on the menu that pops up with disc 1

3. Deleted the thq folder in program files and deleted the company of heroes folder in the documents my games folder (you might wanna copy your save games so you dont have to replay the campaign)

4. Installed coh with the discs etc and set settings when it ran (i doubt you need to do this but im just explaining what i did)

5.Downloaded each patch and ran it then downloaded the next

6.Downloaded the kmod installer on the page and ran it

7. Downloaded the hotfix and ran it (i dont know if this has anything to do with it but i looked in the properties and it has a unblock button that i clicked and set apply to)

8. (this one you can sort of do what you want probably)Copied the shortcut to company of heroes and changed the target line to match the one in the directory that comes with the exe (company of heroes kmod its called i think it gets installed in the directory where the kmod folder is) and renamed the new copy to kmod

9. (just something if anyone is curious) Changed the -no movies line at the end to -nomovies (the space makes it not work)

10. Started the mod,made sure it said 1.61 at the bottom ,and ran a map and the buildings rotate,pioneer has nade,kmod units,line of sight from kmod etc basically seems normal

Hope this might help.

Now if only i could get the germans speaking german since i read somewhere the axis speech file that has the germans speaking german doesnt work with 1.61.

Does anyone have their game with 1.61 sort of randomly crash (bug report thing pops up though)? First i thought it was maybe something i built,but then when i tried a diff map i think i tried to select the schwere gustav gun and it crashed. Part of the warning.log file near the end (i had paused numerous times before this was only around 5 minutes into a large map with a bit of lag):

yeah its either a squad blueprint or a entity blueprint that has invalid parameters. its gonna be a bitch to find, because it never actually lists the file >: O

it was probably the AI that made a corrupt squad, as it seems to be squad files that are corrupt, not ability files.

it would help me heaps if everyone bands together and uses every single ability, squad, vehicle, and doctrine to see exactly what causes the crashing, because then i can easily locate and fix the problem.

Well it seems to happen when I chose Axis -> Defense Doctrine -> leveled up to use points on the left hand side bombardment one. Clicked on the icon to use it on map and it just crashed.

Second senario was when i did Axis -> Middle doctrine -> clicked on an allied unit...

UPDATE: The MADTURNIP HAD HIS FIRST CRASH TODAY ON KMOD. I played for 2 straight days no crashes. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

I was playing AXIS this time. I clicked on an allied unit to attack it, and WHAM! -- CRASH -- So I am not immune to the crashes after all.

Hmmm, I found 1.0 --> 1.4 (http://thq.vo.llnwd.net/o10/CoH/retail/EN_100_140_Patch.exe), 1.4 --> 1.7 (http://thq.vo.llnwd.net/o10/CoH/retail/EN_140_170_Patch.exe)....

Can't find any total 1.7....
Try go on Online MP on COH, maybe it works ^^,

There isn't one for English. You can skip some patches.

You can go from 1.0 to 1.4 - and then from 1.4 to 1.7. That's it! :(

I don't have this problem in 1.7, but I have the OP's problem in 1.7. (And 1.61, I reinstalled, patched incrementally, didn't work, patched to 1.7, still does the same thing as OP)

it is the units being built. keep your pants on man i have 99% done fixing the problem. however to release the fix i would be releasing about 40% of KMOD 1.4 hehe and it wouldn't work properly, because it would be half done and missing a few things... so i will check out whether or not i actually CAN release the full fix to the CTD you guys are getting.
